The Miraculous Horror of Stop Motion
From the same artform that brought you Coraline and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, comes three stories that evoke the existential fear of art.

An analysis of the Unity pricing changes as provided by a friend of mine:
The most generous read I can give is that it's a panic move. Like a lot of tech and entertainment companies, Unity peaked during the pandemic, and has been contracting since. On top of that, because of how important VR environments were for the Metaverse craze, Unity got a huge boost from the cryptocurrency boom, and was disproportionately damaged by the crypto crash that followed FTX's crash. Even before this announcement, they were down over 80% from 2021.
Tumblr media
I'm guessing this was an "In case of circling bankruptcy, break glass" moment. They probably assumed the needle would keep going up, and burnt that capital instead of saving ti so they'd have the cash reserves to weather the storm. (Not at all uncommon, recall Boeing needing a bailout literally days into the pandemic because of how cash-strapped their shortsighted efforts were).
This is also why I'd hesitate to throw insider trading at the execs. Scummy? Absolutely. But they're cashing out of a company that has been going in a death spiral for almost two straight years. There's nothing illegal about looking at that graph and putting two and two together.
Not defending them mind you. Again, unbelievably scummy, catastrophic for small/indie devs, and they've killed their own product and the works of many, many others. But occam's razor applies, the simplest solution is usually the right one, and their stock price over the last few years tells a very simple one.
